Alpha’s March issue is now out and celebrates the best time of the year – footy season! Yes, footy’s back and we are ready with the big interviews, previews, news, opinions, fixtures and more, to help you get the most out of your season.
Our two banner exclusives are with Jarryd Hayne and Darren Lockyer. Hayne, the best player in the NRL last year, tells Alpha he’ll have to be even better if the Parramatta Eels can claim that elusive premiership. As Lockyer enters what could be his final season, we ask the humble champion to reflect on some of the highlights of his fantastic career with the Broncos, Queensland and the Kangaroos.
In AFL, we take a look at The Big Three: Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon. The giants have been sleeping for too long, but as Mark McVeigh, Scott Pendlebury and Marc Murphy tell us, this could be their season to challenge once again.
Elsewhere, we take a long and painful look at cage fighting, as the giant UFC comes to Australia for the first time. It’s the fastest-growing sport in the world, and one of the most misunderstood – Alpha tells you why, and includes some of the best photos we’ve ever featured.
As if that wasn’t enough, we chat to basketball star Andrew Bogut, V8 Supercars’ Craig Lowndes and Sydney Swans great Paul Kelly, while this month sees the start of our great new column from Australia’s leading AFL writer, Damian Barrett.
We’ve plenty of active inspiration, too: Ryan Hoffman helps you get ripped; there’s the best freshwater swimming spots in the country; a guy who ran for days through deserts and lived; how to shoot a lay-up; how to warm-down… PLUS all the usual goodies like fashion, gear, gadgets, booze and food and reviews. All for just $2.95.

Our Road to the World Cup series continues with Mark Schwarzer, the Fulham and Socceroos goalkeeper, who tells us how it was in 2006, and how he feels about South Africa 2010.

    Melissa Moyle
Could this be our sexiest Alpha Female shoot ever? It’s not surprising: Melissa Moyle is an ex-model; now she’s given it all up to be a star player for basketball side Perth Lynx.
